PETER Dale, known as Pigeon Pete or the Silver Fox, was a passionate man.

Among these passions was a love of running, rugby league, touch football and pigeon racing.

He excelled at all.

Sadly, the Ipswich Touch Association and Ipswich rugby league communities lost one of its true gentlemen after he suffered a cerebral haemorrhage.

Finals day of the 2013 Queensland Junior State Cup has already been a memorable one for Joshua del Castillo, being upgraded to his Level 3 badge as well as getting named to officiate in the 16’s Girls final.

What will make the day even more special is the fact that he gets to share the final with his brother, Christian, with the brothers to both officiate in the final together.

Former Australian referee Rick Borg said he was honoured to have a medal recognising the top referee at the 2013 X-Blades National Touch League named after him.

The inaugural medal will be presented to the number one whistle-holder of the tournament at the conclusion of the Elite Eight men’s opens final tomorrow.
